We Like to Grow Stuff
While nearly half our property is open field, we’re amazed at the wonderful assortment of plants that grow here naturally. We’ve also brought in new plants to add to the biodiversity on our little hobby farm.
Flowers at Lingohof
We’re still amazed at how many things grow here without any help from us. In general, you’ll find something blooming in one form or another at Lingohof from March through October.
It’s motivated us to nurture what we have and to add additional plants, in particular flowering plants that enhance the natural beauty of our property and support the various creatures that benefit from them.
Trees at Lingohof
For a five-acre plot of which a good two acres are open field, we sure seem to have a lot of trees on Lingohof. We’ve only planted a handful of extra trees ourselves. The rest of the trees were already here and have been self propagating for years.
In truth, we’ve had to take down more trees, mostly due to rotting and storms, than we’ve planted across the property.
But things are changing as we’re taking care of all our trees now to mind them for overgrowth, overall tree health and even transplanting saplings we see sprouting up, working with what nature gives us.
Edibles
We like to grow stuff, especially stuff we like to eat!
Thankfully, we have the space and climate to grow it in as well. We grow fruits, vegetables and spices here at Lingohof in small quantities, mostly for our own consumption, but someday perhaps for resale.
The list of edibles we’ve enjoyed includes:
