Figs are in season. The first batches usually ripen right before the 4th of July. We eat what we can, share with family and friends and then freeze the rest to make fig jam and fig bars later on.
Our two fig trees are prolific and provide food not just for us, but for a whole host of birds, bees and other insects. This year we even found a snake on one of the limbs.
Maybe snakes love figs too.

Freak storm hits us. A severe thunderstorm brought tornado like winds to Lingohof in late June. We lost three trees in their entirety and another three were badly damaged along with numerous branches down and debris all over the place.
Cleanup on all the downed trees is taking a while.
Take a look at the pics in our gallery below and note the one where wooden debris embedded itself on our front porch column, looking like bullet holes!
